Six-stick chair in red oak with green acrylic milk paint
This Welsh-inspired combback stick chair is based on a Christopher Schwarz design and features gently curving arms and a relaxed pitch that feels welcoming and comfortable. It’s painted with General Finishes Basil acrylic milk paint, which has a beautiful matte finish that still shows the grain of the wood. Another detail is the two forged nails in armbow (more for decoration than strength).
Like all of my stick chairs, the straight parts were sawn or split from straight-grained stock to ensure strength, and all joints are glued with durable but reversible hide glue, so they can be repaired if necessary. All critical joints are also wedged for a secure fit.
