Seven-stick combback chair in white oak
This combback chair in white oak has a few extra sticks than usual (seven long ones and eight short), and as a result it’s particularly comfortable and supportive. I also experimented with a new arm design, which gives the chair some visual weight and presence. The finish is a linseed oil and wax blend, which adds depth of colour and softness while still feeling like actual wood, and it’s easy to touch up if needed.
Like all of my stick chairs, the straight parts were sawn or split from straight-grained stock to ensure strength, and all joints are glued with durable but reversible hide glue, so they can be repaired if necessary. Critical joints are also either wedged or pegged.
